January
Park Pavilion Reservations
The Park Pavilion Reservation Calendar opens up each year on the first business day of January (usually January 2nd) at 8:00 a.m.  Please go to the Park Pavilion Reservation page for more information.

Christmas Tree Pick-Up
Allied Waste will provide curbside Christmas Tree pick-up January 7-11th. Please have all trees at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on January 7th.  If your tree was not picked up, please contact Allied Waste at (801) 785-5935.  There will also be a large dumpster available for trees at Heritage Park (5381 W 10400 N), January 2-6th.

March
Easter Egg Hunt & Cookie Decorating!
The annual Children’s Easter Egg Hunt & Cookie Decorating will be held on Saturday, March 30th! Come join the Youth City Council at 9:30 AM at Heritage Park (5381 W 10400 N) for the Easter Egg Hunt. Then come to the pavilion to decorate cookies with the Highland Arts Council. It’s going to be so much fun! Come prepared for the weather and bring your Easter Baskets.


April

Burn Permits
The Utah County Fire Marshal has set the date for the burn window from April 1st to April 30th each year.  Any resident inside the county is allowed to burn if they have a burn permit if it is a “burn day”.  You can obtain a burn permit at City Hall (Monday -Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.) for no charge during the burn period.  With your permit you will also receive a list of rules that must be followed.  Each day before you burn you must also call the burn hotline at 801-374-BURN to find out if the air quality is good enough to burn. The Lone Peak Fire District appreciates and supports your efforts to burn safely and comply with the Utah County burn permit rules.

Arbor Day
Arbor Day Tree Sale and Planting Project is held at the end of April each year. Please visit the Arbor Day page for more details.

May
Hooked on Fishin'
The Hooked on Fishing program focuses on educating youth (6-13 years old) about fishing and aquatic resources. The program is held in May each year. Please go to the Hooked on Fishing page for more information and to sign up to be a fishing instructor.

Highland City Preparedness Fair
The Highland City Preparedness Fair is held every two years at Lone Peak High School in May.  The next Fair will be held in 2014. 

Spring Clean-Up
The annual Highland City Spring Clean-Up will take place the first weekend of May each year, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. at the parking lot at the mouth of the American Fork Canyon. Dumpsters will be available so you can dispose of you metal, wood, household waste, and yard waste (please no hazardous materials).  Scouts and other groups are welcome to help city crews during this time and earn community service hours!

Murdock Canal Trail Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The Murdock Canal Trail Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, May 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Mitchell Hollow Park.  Additional details will be posted soon.

July

Highland City Fling Days is a week-long City celebration with activities starting on the last Saturday in July leading up to our big celebration on the last Saturday of August.  Events include: Day of Service Project, Baby Contest, Art Show, Kids Activities, Community Dinner, Dutch Oven Cook-Off, 5K Fun Run, Parade, Inflatables, Vendor booths, BMX Stunt Team, Local Entertainment, Fireman's Spray, Fireworks & more! The Highland Town Market is a family friendly market full of local produce, handmade crafts, savory treats, and great entertainment. October
Senior Citizen's Dinner
The Highland Youth City Council invites all seniors 60 & over to the annual Young At Heart Appreciation Dinner. This event is held in October each year.  Keep an eye on the City Newsletter in September for more information.

December
Christmas Crafts Day with Santa
The Highland Youth City Council invites Santa to come to City Hall on the first Saturday of December each year from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. During this time the Arts Council will be hosting the Children’s Christmas Crafts Day with children’s craft projects ranging from free - $1.50 per craft.

Youth City Council Canned Food Drive
During the month of December the YCC collects canned food items to be donated to the Community Action Services and Food Bank. Every donation we receive will go to help a family in Utah County. Please bring canned food items to City Hall during the month of December and place it under the Christmas tree. Any community group including scouts are encouraged to help with the food drive.


Community Classes
Couponing Classes are held on the fourth Thursdays of the month in the multipurpose room at City Hall. Couponing 101 starts at 7:00 p.m. followed by Savvy Shopping 201 at 8:00 p.m.  For more information, contact Savvy trainer Katie at (801) 367-4604. Please view the Events Calendar for the class schedule. At this time, classes have been postponed.
