Code Enforcement Process

Procedure for Code Enforcement

  1. Resident files a complaint via Request Tracker at www.highlandcity.org.
  2. Staff performs a site inspection.
  3. A letter is sent to the property owner identifying the violation and requesting compliance within an appropriate timeframe (typically 14-60 days depending on the violation).
  4. The site is re-inspected for compliance.
  5. If the violation has been corrected, the case is closed and a thank you letter is mailed to the property owner.
  6. If the violation has not been corrected, a notice of violation is issued and a final inspection is performed.
  7. If the violation is still not corrected, a citation is issued and the case is given to the City Prosecutor for prosecution.
