Horace James (Hodge) and Marcia Ann Whiting Gillett:  Hodge, as he was always called, was born September 2, 1864 in Green River, Wyoming to Horace Eaton and Almira Mead Gillett.  After his father died his mother married Isaac Groo and had 2 children so Hodge is half-brother to Milton M Groo (q.v.). Marcia was born September 20, 1876 in American Fork, Utah to John Brigham and Sarah Ann Shepherd Whiting.   They were married March 9, 1895 in American Fork and lived in Highland 1910-1918 in the Sherman Evans home (#55 on the 1958 Highland map).  Hodge was an operator at the power plants in American Fork and Alpine canyons and later worked at the Utah Lake Irrigation Co pumping station at Lehi.  In the 1900 census his residence was Alpine but he was working on a mill in White Pine, Nevada.  In 1910 he was in Alpine and in 1915, when Highland Ward was organized, his membership came to Highland.  In 1920 and 1930 he lived in Lehi.

They had fourteen children: Ruby Myrtle, Norma Almira, James Mead, Orville Horace, Ila May, Earl, Walter Whiting, Marcia Louise, Belva Sarah, Von Granville, Jack Ray, Annie, Calvin Coolidge and Warren Harding.  Earl and Annie both died at birth and Calvin and Warren were twins.  Hodge was evidently married previously to Agnes and had a son with her, Fred Monroe.

Marcia died December 13, 1934 in Lehi and Hodge died February 15, 1945 in Midvale.  They are buried in the Alpine Cemetery.
