Neff

Cyrus Leroy and Mary Catherine Burbidge Neff:  The Neff’s lived at #29 (on the 1958 Highland map) and it was a large, well shaded place where the people of Highland loved to hold summer celebrations.

Cy was born April 8, 1900 in East Mill Creek, Utah to Amos Barr and Lucy Evelyn Seely Neff.  Mary was born November 7, 1898 in Kamas to Jesse Elias and Sarah Vivian Simpson Burbidge.  They married September 30, 1919 and made their first home in Salt Lake City.  They had seven children: Imogene, Donald B, Elma, Jay Leroy, Gwen, Joan and Connie Gay and in 1930 were still living in Salt Lake.

Church records show them coming to Highland in 1931 and they stayed for quite a few years but by 1940 were living in Cedar City.  In Highland their daughter, Imogene, was a Sunday School teacher in 1937.  In 1918 at the time of the WWI draft his occupation was framing, in 1930 he was a salesman, in Highland he raised sheep, in Cedar City he managed a hardware store and in 1942, at the WWII draft he was living in Eureka, Utah, working for Eagle & Blue Bell Mining.

Cy died October 10, 1985 in Midvale, Utah and Mary died August 28, 1884, also in Midvale and they are buried in the Elysian Burial Gardens.
