Hooked on FishingThe Hooked on Fishing program will focus on educating youth about fishing and aquatic resources. Classes are held on Thursdays April 18 to May 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Highland Glen Park. Cost is $25 resident* or $30 non-resident, which includes instruction manual, bait, tackle, and a t-shirt. A fishing pole may be rented for an additional $5. Class is limited to 30 participants, ages 6 years old and over. Parents are more than welcome to attend and participate with the class (no registration required for adults). On-line registration begins March 2nd at noon. and ends on April 10th at 5:00 p.m. If you missed the registration deadline, please call (801) 772-4507 to be placed on a waiting list.
*Highland City participates in a tri-city recreation program managed by Cedar Hills. Those living in Highland, Alpine, and Cedar Hills will receive the resident rate for this class.
Fishing Instructors WantedDo you like fishing? Do you want to share your love of fishing with young people? Then consider becoming a Highland City Hooked on Fishing instructor with Highland City and the Division of Wildlife Resources! Youth fishing classes are held once a week for four weeks. 10 adult volunteers are needed to teach the class. Two - three volunteers will be "teamed up" with a group of 10 youth. Volunteers must submit a background check (PDF) with the Division of Wildlife Resources. The class is part of DWR's Community Fishing Program. Dedicated Hunter hours may be earned for those participating in the Dedicated Hunter program. Classes are held on Thursdays April 18 - May 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Highland Glen Park (4800 W/Cedar Hills Drive, west of Lone Peak High School in Highland). Instructor Training: Tuesday, April 9th at 6:30 p.m. at Highland City Hall (5400 W Civic Center Drive, Highland UT, 84003). Please register on-line so we can order your volunteer t-shirt.
