Ruel & Ethel Rose Hyde Nay Markham
Ethel was born August 23, 1909, in Crescent, Utah to William Thomas and Emily Jessie Dear Hyde (q.v.). She married James Nay, son of Guy Lee and Maud Louise Stewart Nay, on October 26, 1927, and they had a son James Robert born September 3, 1929, and were later divorced. He died in January, 1968. In December, 1932, Ethel married Ruel Markham, born March 5, 1903, in Weir City, Kansas to Ruel Cue and Emily Pear Nicholson Markham. They lived in Highland (Number 88 on the 1958 Highland map) in a home her father built for them (records show they lived in "Hyland"). Ethel helped build the home by digging the basement by hand and carrying the dirt out by the bucketful. Ethel was the Relief Society secretary in 1940-43 when Jessie Hyde, her brother's wife was President. Ruel died November 23, 1965, and Ethel later married Mr. Harshman. She died February 15, 1995, in Washington State.
