Hamel
Kenneth Herman & Stella Frances Reed Hamel
This couple was introduced earlier living with the Cornia family (q.v.) at the time of the 1940 census. Stella was an older sister to Hazel Cornia, born October 28, 1906, in Mill Creek, Utah to Thomas Edward and Sarah J. Wardle Reed. Kenneth was born February 22, 1911, in St. Paul, Minnesota to James H. and Lena Haynes Hamel. Stella married Charles E. Blackmarr on June 4, 1926, and they had two children: Shirley J. and Ray Edwin. They were divorced and in 1935 she was living in Highland with her sister. She married Kenneth May 2, 1936, in Oneida, Idaho and they were living in Highland in 1940 with her two children.
Kenneth registered for the draft in 1940 and in 1944 was inducted into the Army and served from January 28, 1944, until January 17, 1946. They lived in California and later divorced and she married William Callahan and Kenneth married Enola M. Hallewell and later divorced her. He died February 1, 1979, in San Francisco, California and is buried in the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno. Stella died in February, 1960, in Long Beach, California.
