2018 Youth Hooked on Fishing Class

The Hooked on Fishing program will focus on educating youth about fishing and aquatic resources. 6 Week course is held on Thursdays April 26, May 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th & 31st, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Highland Glen Park. Cost is $25 resident* or $30 non-resident, which includes instruction, bait, tackle, and a t-shirt. A fishing pole may be rented for an additional $5. 

Class is limited to 30 participants, ages 6 years old and over.  Parents are more than welcome to attend and participate with the class (no registration required for adults).

*Highland City participates in a tri-city recreation program managed by Cedar Hills. Those living in Highland, Alpine, and Cedar Hills will receive the resident rate for this class.

Fishing Instructors Wanted
Do you like fishing? Do you want to share your love of fishing with young people? Then consider becoming a Highland City Hooked on Fishing instructor with Highland City and the Division of Wildlife Resources! Youth fishing classes are held once a week for four weeks.  10 adult volunteers are needed to teach the class.  Volunteers will be "teamed up" with a group of youth. Volunteers must submit a background check.  The class is part of DWR's Community Fishing Program.  Dedicated Hunter hours may be earned for those participating in the Dedicated Hunter program.  Classes are held the last Thursday of April and all 5 Thursdays in May, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Highland Glen Park (4800 W/Cedar Hills Drive, west of Lone Peak High School in Highland). Instructor Training to be announced.
