Walter Fredrick and Esther Catherine Thomas Bowen:  Walter was born June 15, 1873, in Oneida, Idaho to David and Annie Shackleton Bowen.  Walter’s brother, Albert E., became a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS Church.  Esther was born November 21, 1879, in Malad, Idaho to Fredrick William and Ruth Price Thomas.  They were married March 8, 1898, and had twelve children: Walter LeGrand, Clyde, Ruth, Annie, Vilate, Verda, Leo, Stella, Fredrick, Victor, Edna and Norma LaRue.  Walter LeGrand died at five months and Annie died before her fifteenth birthday.
It is not known when they lived in Highland (#34 on the 1958 Highland map - interactivelarger) but it was probably in the early 1930’s as the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses showed them living in Samaria, Malad and Neeley, Idaho and in 1940 they were in American Fork and the census indicated that they were living in their American Fork home in 1935.  Walter was listed as a farmer on each census.
Walter died November 24, 1958, in American Fork; Esther died June 25, 1972, in Salt Lake City and they are buried in the American Fork City Cemetery. []
