Dransfield, Draper

Arnold and Jennive Clark Dransfield:  Although they didn’t officially live in Highland, they owned property of one of the early homesteaders - Harry Savil, on the far west side of his homestead.  Arnold was born in England on October 8, 1892, to Thomas and Mary Hannah Haslam Dransfield.  He married Jennive Clark on December 5, 1919.  Jennive was born to James B. and Armmita Peterson Clark on August 23, 1896, in Lehi. She lived part of her life in the original Sego Lily School (still standing, 2018) at 723 East 900 North in Lehi beginning in 1929 when her father bought the property from the school board for $410.
On May 16, 1952, Arnold received title to 46 acres (#8 on the 1958 Highland (#8 interactivelarger - 10210 N. 7200 W.) that had belonged to Andrew Jackson Stewart (q.v.), who had died in 1919 without a will.  The taxes were not paid on his property for many years so Arnold paid them and was awarded title.  Forty acres were in the Savil homestead and six acres were next to it on the west in section four.  This is the same property that Reimschussels (q.v.) had previously lived on.
Arnold died October 24, 1978, in Lehi and Jennive died September 11, 1981, in American Fork.  They are buried in the Lehi City Cemetery.

Clive Grant and Arva Lottie Lambson Draper:  This story is just a bit weird so pay attention.  Clive was born February 15, 1894, in Orem, Utah Territory to Marion Isaac and Polly Ann Johnson Draper.  On May 19, 1916, he married Mary Leone Stratton who was born February 15, 1896, to James Barton and Emeline Cole Stratton.  In 1917, when he registered for the draft, Clive was living and working in Bingham, Utah.  They had five children: Theodore Clive, Mary LaVon, Don R., Birdie Beth and an unnamed baby that died at birth on August 24, 1923.  Mary died the very next day.  One year later, on August 14, 1924, in Bear Lake, Idaho, Clive married Arva Lottie Lambson who was born June 14, 1896, to Albert E. and Lottie Huntington Lambson.  She had previously been married to Joseph Hatt.  Clive and Arva had four children: Paul Clive, Howard Dean, Shanna Lee, and Janiell Elaine.
In 1930 they lived in Kanab, Utah and they moved to Highland in 1935 and were there at the 1940 census when something very strange happened.  On April 18th or 19th the census taker recorded their names as Clive and Arva Grant with four children: Don R., age 20; Paul Clive, age 14; Howard D., age 11; and Shanna Lee, age three, all surnamed Grant, in household no. 45. The next week, on April 24, the same census taker recorded them as Clive and Arva Draper with four children of the same given names and ages and one additional child - Janiell, age zero, all surnamed Draper, in household no. 51.  It’s hard to imagine what was going on - did someone have a weird sense of humor - surly two families with the same names and ages is not a coincidence!
In 1942, when he registered for the WWII draft Clive was working in the Strawberry Valley.  Arva passed away November 1, 1947, and Clive Married Rosella Jean Alexander on February 24, 1948, in Elko, Nevada.  She was born February 24, 1898, in Rocky Ford, Colorado to William Ned and Blanche May Stafford Alexander and had been marred twice previously.  Clive died April 30, 1954, in Las Vegas and is buried in Woodlawn Gardens there.  Rosella died March 5, 1981, in Bellflower, California.
