Jackson Charles and Ellen “Nellie” Thomas Wanlass: Jackson was a power plant operator and they lived at the plant (#69 on the 1958 Highland map). They moved there in 1922 and were there at the 1930 census. Their son, Glen, was a Sunday School teacher in 1930 and 1931.
Jackson was born August 20, 1875, in Lehi, Utah Territory to Jackson and Julie Sophia Phillips Wanlass. Ellen was born September 10, 1877, in Lehi to William J. and Harriet E. Thomas. They were married January 10, 1900, and they had six children: Irene, Athol Thomas, Marion Lawrence, Ruel Lee, Glen Louis, and Julia Fay.
In the 1940’s and ‘50’s Glen operated a service station in Lehi and my dad always patronized him because of their earlier association.
The 1920 census showed them living in Lehi with Jackson working at the power plant and in 1935 and 1940 they were living in Lehi and he was a farmer. Jackson died April 14, 1958, and Ellen died March 16, 1973, in Provo. They are buried in the Lehi City Cemetery.
